Top 6 beauty tips to learn from your mum

1. Take care of your neck
When moisturising your face, don’t stop at your chin! Your neck is also just as prone to changes in pigment, elasticity and wrinkles. Our mums know that the skin on your neck can be thinner and more sensitive than the skin on your face.  This is one of the areas where women show signs of ageing first.
When applying your moisturiser make sure to cover your neck and chest. Sodashi’s Rejuvenating Face and Neck Moisturiser contains nourishing plant essences to project, rejuvenate and firm the skin and minimise visible signs of ageing. Moisturise the skin in an upward circular motion to boost circulation and minimise tugging.

2. Less is more
When it comes to putting chemicals on your skin, less is more. Lots of everyday products are full of chemicals which are used by pharmaceutical companies as ‘fillers’. A Touch of Beauty is committed to supplying customers with a choice of products that are low or free of chemicals.
Sodashi products are unparalleled in performance and purity, employing only therapeutic-grade, ethically-sourced essential oils and plant actives to effectively heal and nurture.

3. Do not pick or squeeze
How many times has your mum told you to stop picking your face! There are multiple reasons that you shouldn’t pick or squeeze your spots.
Firstly our fingers and fingernails carry bacteria, despite how often you might wash your hands. Picking or squeezing your skin can lead to infection caused by the bacteria on your fingers. Picking and squeezing your spots can also add to the inflammation. By pulling your skin you’re damaging your skin and ultimately causing more redness and swelling. Picking and squeezing your skin may also cause scarring.
It’s best to leave extractions to the professionals at A Touch of Beauty. We create a sterile space and use exactly the right amount of pressure and the correct tools to minimize any damage to your skin.

4. Sunscreen!
How many times has your mum told you to always wear sunscreen? What happens when you are wearing makeup though?
Sunscreen needs to be applied under makeup for maximum protection, should be a minimum SPF 30 and don’t forget your neck and ears. Don’t rely on your makeup for the best source of SPF. It can be unreliable in terms of protection. Wait a few minutes before applying your foundation to allow your sun protection to set and really penetrate your skin. We love Dermalogica’s Super Sensitive Shield which is a chemical-free product with a broad spectrum to protect and reinforce barrier lipids. These are areas that may not be protected with sunscreen that is found in your makeup.

5. Moisturise after you shower
Yes, every time! Moisturising is essential to healthy looking skin and don’t our mums know it.
The best time to moisturise is right after leaving the shower or bath. When applied immediately after bathing, the product is able to trap some of the water still on your body to hydrate your skin further. Sodashi’s Vitamin Rich Body Oil is fragrance-free and a blend of essential plant oils to strengthen, nourish and protect the skin. It is also safe for use during pregnancy.

6. Always take off your makeup
When your mum told you to wash your face before you went to bed, she was right! Sleeping in your makeup can result in the breakdown of healthy collagen, which results in fine lines on the skin. This is caused by exposure to free radicals (an atom that is highly unstable and reactive) that your makeup is attracted to. Free radicals are pollutants that remain on the skin when you don’t clean your face properly at night. Makeup can also clog the pores of your skin resulting in blemishes and even acne.
