The Beauty Within

At A Touch Of Beauty, our founder Jo fosters a solid core value of striving for ‘the beauty within’, which she believes has a direct effect on the beauty without, as in ‘When you feel good inside by doing good, you feel good on the outside, too’. This philosophy, in turn, fosters our solid core mission of striving to create a better world through advocacy against animal cruelty and child poverty.

“Both of these causes are very close to my heart, or shall we say stole my heart at a very young age,” Jo says. “I was always an animal lover and I think that kind of love generally extends into wanting to try to help make life a little better for them, if you are able. I think it’s incredibly important that we fight for those who don’t have a voice to fight for themselves and that obviously includes children as well.”

Both are causes Jo has supported for most of her adult life. In fact, you may be interested to know that A Touch Of Beauty supports over 57 charities, some of the most well known including Animals Asia, The Jane Goodall Institute, Canteen, Charlie Teo Foundation, PETA, UNHCR, UNICEF and WSPA. But enough with the names for now (unless of course, you’d like to read more – you can do that here).

This mission extends throughout the reach of the salon itself, as well, with Jo championing only products that take a strong stance on cruelty-free testing and sustainable sources. All products from Dermalogica, Sodashi, Jane Iredale Cosmetics and Inika Organics are as easy on our earth and creatures as they are good for your skin.

“I have always extensively researched not only the efficacy of any products we use in salon or send off with our clients but also the company’s values and practices. I believe it’s not hard to ensure you are using products that don’t harm one life source while benefitting another; it’s a small thing you can do with a huge impact for the better,” Jo says.

But we wanted you to know that while we are trying to help you make positive changes in your life, we are also dedicated to helping make positive change in the lives of other humans and creatures facing a daily battle. Please do feel free to ask any of our staff members more about this if you are interested to know more about the work Jo does or may even like to be involved in some way.

It’s a subject we’re more than happy to talk about.

And something else we wanted to let you know…

We will be closing between the dates of September 9-15 as the salon undergoes a few nips and tucks here and there. We’re very excited to reopen after this date with a freshened space, as well as a whole host of new therapies and products.

And while we are saving the surprises of exactly what will be on offer until later…we do have a fantastic new product that has just landed in store.
PAINT is an Australian-made, vegan, cruelty-free nail lacquer that follows a breathable, 10-free formula (as in free of the 10 ingredients found in some lacquers that can be harmful to humans and animals). The fun part of the story with PAINT is that it was created by an interior designer. The story goes that when working on projects, she would often end up with beautiful colour palettes and wish she could have those shades in her nail paint kit. And so PAINT came into existence to combine colour, design and beauty; a highly-curated range of only 12 shades per season, aligned to both the design and fashion world.

We are now using PAINT in-salon and will also stock the brand for clients who find they’ve fallen in love with a particular shade.

We can’t wait to see you soon at A Touch Of Beauty!!
